Cities 4 Co-housing: Contributing to the right to decent living; empowering communities
Thessaloniki, September 2025
The 2nd meeting of the Local Group (ULG) of the European URBACT programme “Cities 4 Co-housing” was successfully held in Thessaloniki.
The meeting brought together representatives of institutions, organizations and active citizens, who worked collaboratively on the development and prioritization of pilot actions that will feed into the city’s Investment Plan for cooperative and community-led housing.
Key outcomes:
- Priority was given to the creation of the Resident Voice Labs & Statute Starter Kit, which will provide simple self-organization tools and support the formation of the city’s first resident group.
- The second priority action is the Gender & Care-Informed Matching Pathway, aimed at developing inclusion pathways that integrate gender, care and safety dimensions.
- In addition, discussions addressed the Co-Design Sprint for the Siatistis Street building and the establishment of a Vacancy-to-Cohousing Pipeline.
The next Local Group meeting will take place in November 2025, to further shape the actions of the Investment Plan and establish thematic working groups. The Cities 4 Co-housing network is more than just a housing initiative; it is a movement that seeks to change the way we think about the spaces we inhabit and the communities we create within them.
